These are excellent questions. I am going to ponder them a while and be back with some answers. Looking forward to others' answers as well. I'm in the market for a new battery operated boyfriend and could use the input.

Yes (or was numb!).
Was it pleasurable or annoying?
A little of both.
Is it damaging? That's my concern! It seems like it could damage those precious nerve endings. Some say that the Hitachi Magic Wand can cause such damage (though many swear by it as the #1 vibe out there).
Is there a standard rating for vibes? Should there be? I think some sort of power rating would be a great idea. I judge right now based mainly on power source- AAA or AA batteries, probably not going to do it for me; 2-3 C batteries, probably good; several D batteries - too unwieldy usually, but yowza! I'm not so fond of corded - I like to be able to go where ever I want!
Do you like high trills or deep rumblings? Depends on the mood. Variety is the spice of life!!
Steady or pulsating? See previous answer regarding variety. Though pulsing initially with steady toward the end is a nice combo, if you can get it.

Yes. Not pleasurable. I dont think its damaging, at least not long term. Mrs. Zig I fear that the answer is no, there is no standard rating. The vibrator industry could probably be compared to the meatpacking industry before Upton Sinclair stuck his nose in it. Personally? I like steady high trills. Here is some bonus info. I really dont care for vibrators unless I have company because it just seems so mechanical. I have to be pretty disenchanted with my alone time before i reach for one though!

I prefer to use my clit vibe and vary the speed and pulse settings to keep things stimulated.
It only takes minutes whereas with a normal vibe it can take 10's of minutes. :)
